The Bank of Thailand issued Thai Baht banknotes in 11 different denominations, including this 60 Thai Baht commemorative banknote.
The Bank of Thailand started issuing these 60 Thai Baht banknotes in 2006. They were withdrawn from circulation in 2012.
The square banknote of 60 Thai baht was issued to celebrate the 60th birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's accession to the throne. The late Thai king, may he rest in peace, was also referred to as 'Rama IX'.
On the front of the 60 baht bill is the King seated on a throne. On the back is an illustration of Rama IX speaking with a crowd.
